Having Fun, Solving Hard Problems

We're a technology startup called Bakodo - Barcode in Japanese. We believe that if you're not having fun at work while creating something that will add value to the world, then it's probably not worth doing.

We're working on discovering new ways of using barcodes to enhance the way we interact with the world. If you want to find out about some of the other cool, secret projects underway, you should consider joining us.

A World Class Team

At Bakodo, we look to tackle challenging problems in creative ways, and that's why we've put together a team of highly motivated and talented people who bring their experience from world-renowned institutions: Brown University, RISD, UNH, Google, Apple, Microsoft, Pixar, VMWare.

And we're a pretty diverse bunch. If you speak any of the following languages, someone in our team will be able to keep up a good conversation: English, C, Spanish, Objective-C/Cocoa, Turkish, Python/Django, French, JS, Catalan, C++, Italian, JQuery, Gallego, HTML, Portuguese, MATLAB, German.

One thing we have in common though: we all love barcodes.

Andres Douglas (Founder/CEO)

Andres founded Bakodo in 2009 while he was a senior at Brown University. He graduated from Brown in 2009 with an Sc.B. in Math and Computer Science, with a focus in Operating Systems, Computer Vision and Machine Learning.

Before starting Bakodo, Andres was an intern at Apple's iPhone Software team, where he worked on kernel-level memory management and was also able to develop a passion for product development. Prior to that, Andres worked on Dapper, Google's Distributed Dynamic Tracing System.

Andres graduated from the prestigious United World College of the Atlantic high school in 2004, after attending with a full scholarship.

When he isn't coming up with new features or ideas for Bakodo, Andres enjoys cooking delicious meals. He is a great fan of sports, and swims, runs or does yoga every day. He is also a big fan of water sports, including swimming, scuba, sailing and windsurfing. Some even go as far as to say that one day he will admit to having gills. Andres also loves languages, and is fluent in English, Spanish, Gallego and Catalan, and know enough Portuguese, French and Italian to get himself in trouble. You can read his thoughts on his blog at http://andresdouglas.com. On Twitter he is @andresdouglas.
